New Professional Development Credit Requirements

In compliance with the following new requirement from the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Ohio Voices for Learning will now offer professional development events for Ohio Approved credit. This will allow early childhood professionals the opportunity to apply those training hours to meet program licensure, SUTQ and Ohio Approved professional development requirements.

PD Hour Requirements & Ohio Approved Training

Beginning July 1, 2017, the “SUTQ Approved” training designation will no longer be accepted as meeting the requirements outlined in Chapter 5101:2-17 OAC.  The new “Ohio Approved” training designation was established in an effort to align all early childhood PD and training to follow the same criteria.  Training currently “SUTQ Approved” can be submitted to the Ohio Professional Registry to determine if the training meets the “Ohio Approved” professional development criteria.  A professional in a program registering for a 4 or 5-star rating, which has requested additional points for staff completing higher levels of PD, may count SUTQ and Ohio approved PD hours until July 1, 2017.
